Wayne County Community College District is excited about the creation of their Emergency Training Complex. This complex, when completed, will provide Homeland Security, Fire, Law Enforcement, EMS and Industrial emergency response education. This unique 10 acre site will be part of the DownRiver Campus and is expected to attract national interest in emergency preparedness and response training. Wayne County Community College District anxiously awaits the completion of the site and is planning to be operational by the end of 2005. |

The Learning Corner at Wealthy has been successful in preparing and helping individuals transition into their programs at Grand Rapids Community College. This project involves assisting community members to successfully pass their GED, apply and transition from the community location on Wealthy Street to the main campus in downtown Grand Rapids. They have achieved high results with their initial group of students and plan on expanding this service to other parts of the Grand Rapids Community. |

Schoolcraft College has seen remarkable results with their innovative approach to teaching the requisite skills of welding. They have been able to greatly increase their non-traditional headcounts, offer entrepreneurial opportunities to the students at Schoolcraft and prepare them to earn a high wage in a highly skilled and needed job of the 21st century. |
